CIWEM Surface Water Management Conference 14 June 2011

CIWEM held its Surface Water Management Conference in London on 14 June 2011.

The conference reviewed the implementation of the Flood and Water Management Act and progress made by Local Authorities, especially Lead Local Flood Authorities in carrying out their flood risk management roles.

The conference focused on surface water management and the key issues, legislation, implementation and the need for change, planning, implementation and SUDS. Presentations of interest included the latest on the Defra’s National FCERM strategy and the ‘payment for outcomes’ funding approach, the role of water companies and the future for retrofitting SUDS in the UK.
