NCE Flood Management Summit

Date of event: 25-26 November 2014

The Bloomsbury Hotel, London

The New Civil Engineer is delighted to present the 10th annual Flood Management Summit, on 25-26 November. One year on from the previous winter floods, the event is perfectly-timed to gather key decision-makers from local authorities, the Environment Agency and Defra with the industry in London to reflect on lessons learnt from 2013, debate the best strategies to drive forward effective flood management and draw on recent and current projects across the UK.

Following the wettest 12 months on record, Defra has announced plans to spend £3.2 billion on flood and coastal erosion in the year 2014-2015. The Department has also pledged an additional £270 million for urgent repairs, restoration and maintenance of defences. With the national spotlight on flood defence strategies, there has never been a more crucial time for the sector to come together and share best practices on property and major infrastructure protection and flood risk management solutions.

7 key reasons to attend the 10th annual Flood Management Summit:

  • Discuss the accessibility of funding for flood management projects and learn about successful funding partnerships
  • Understand the different sources of flooding and the different solutions required for each
  • Join the SuDS debate – when can we expect implementation of the SuDS Approval Bodies and how are different local authorities gearing up for this?
  • Gain insights on how the sector is exploring wider catchment solutions to flood risk management
  • Compare and contrast innovative solutions to procurement and delivery of projects across the UK
  • Join the discussion, pose your own questions and benefit from direct interaction with the industry through a series of interactive workshop sessions, practical case studies, technical presentations and panel discussions
  • And network with the industry leaders from local authorities, the Environment Agency, water companies, drainage boards, consulting engineers, contractors and more.
